Mia Asano: The Moroccan Lounge - Los Angeles, CA - 2/28/26
Electric violinist Mia Asano announced her first solo tour. For several years, she has been making a name for herself as she has played many live shows showcasing her skills and elegance. She has released plenty of original music as well as covers and has collaborated with many other artists. Her debut solo album is set to be released in the near future. Her latest accomplishment is being part of the orchestra during a tour all over Europe with Swedish power metal legends, Sabaton. Now, she’s on the road to do her very first solo tour. The very first stop on the tour was at the Moroccan Lounge in Los Angeles, California. Los Angeles showed her so much love that the show sold out ahead of time. The venue was fully packed by the time Mia Asano hit the stage and it was set to be a historic night.
Mia’s band members came out, and one noticeable member was Alicia Vigil on bass who, not only has her own band Vigil of War, but is also the bassist for British power metal legends Dragonforce. Mia Asano was the last one to come out in a flashy outfit as the band started their show with “Storm.” Asano wasted no time in showcasing her skills on the electric violin. Up next was one of her most popular covers, the theme song for the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Anyone who grew up in the 90’s will easily recognize this song. Asano then went on to play some originals which included “Labyrinth” and “Lunar.” Asano then took a quick break to address the audience and mention how the show is pretty much sold out. She also mentioned how she has new album in the works and will be released at a later date. The theme for her upcoming album will be based on cryptids. A cryptid is essentially a creature or animal who has had sightings, but no physical evidence has ever been found. Some of the most famous cryptids include Bigfoot, Loch Ness Monster, Chupacabra, and Mothman (Mia, if you read this and have not seen the show, I highly recommend the show “Lost Tapes” from the 2000’s). Up first from the upcoming album is a brand-new song titled “Dragon”, and it would be the first time that it is performed live. Other songs from the upcoming album included “Moth” (Mothman)," Sea Serpent,” “Kraken,” and “Jorogumo.” One of the highlights of the show was when it was time to play “Death Worm” about the Mongolian Death Worm. A special guest was brought out, and it was Uyanga Bold who is also a Mongolian singer and throat singer. A perfect fit for the song. for the performance of “Halo of the Fates,” Star Wars fans will easily recognize this as one of the best Star Wars scores. Asano brought out a violin bow that lit up like a lightsaber to match the theme of the song. Another highlight of the show was when the band played a cover of Papa Roach’s “Last Resort.” The audience was singing along to the intro and the main chorus. Another song that 90’s kids will recognize is the main theme for the X-Men cartoon, which is also one of the greatest cartoons of all time. To end the show, Asano and her band played a cover of “The Devil Went Down to Georgia” originally by The Charlie Daniels Band. What better song to cover than a song who has plenty of violin segments. A great start to the tour and a very energetic performance from the entire band and I highly recommend anyone go see her show if you see her coming near you. It’s just the start of the tour, so there’s plenty of dates left.
