Mudvayne/Static-X: Hollywood Palladium - Los Angeles, CA - 9/28/25

Nu-metal giants Mudvayne and Static-X announced a co-headlining tour that made many metalheads happy. It was a milestone for both bands because both bands were celebrating 25 years of their respective debut albums. For Mudvayne, it was L.D. 50 and for Static-X it was Wisconsin Death Trip. Support for the tour would be Vended. The legendary Hollywood Palladium is a perfect fit for a tour of this caliber as it was so packed that it might as well have been a sold-out show. Even before doors opened, a line of fans had already lined up just waiting to be the first ones in the venue and grab a spot up front. Even on a Sunday, and with most people having to go back to work on Monday, that didn’t stop them from showing up to rock out.
Static-X reunited with all original members in 2018 except for singer/guitarist Wayne Static who sadly passed away in 2014. In 2020, they released Project: Regeneration Vol. 1, their first album in 11 years. In 2024, they released the follow up album Project: Regeneration Vol. 2. Since reforming, they have been actively touring with a new singer who goes by the name of Xer0 who also bears a striking resemblance to Static as if brought back as a cybernetic member. The lights went out, and the crowd cheered with excitement as they band members came out. The first song performed was “Bled for Days” from the WDT album. In celebration for the album, most of the album would be played on this tour. The crowd went wild as they started to mosh and crowd surf to some Evil Disco. The next songs performed were the title track “Wisconsin Death Trip” and “Fix.” The energy during their performance was unreal. Fans were headbanging, singing along, and raising their horns. Static-X continued to play hits from the album and other hits from their catalog which included “Love Dump,” “Black White,” “Get to the Gone,” and “Cold.” A few times, a Frankenstein monster and a character with a giant X on its head would come out to interact with the audience while foam to mimic snow was shot out into the crowd. During the middle of the song “Cold,” the LCD screen in the back showed clips of Static during his live performances. For the finale of their set, Static-X played “I’m With Stupid,” and their most popular song, “Push It.” Static-X wrapped up their show and left the stage as they thanked the audience. The night was already great, and the headliner was still waiting to go on stage.
Mudvayne had originally gone on hiatus in 2010. They reformed in 2021 with all original members. In September, they released two new singles being “Hurt People Hurt People” and “Sticks and Stones.” Fans received the unfortunate news that Greg Tribbett would not be on this tour due to the passing of his wife. In his place, backing guitarist Marcus Rafferty moved up to lead guitar. The venue was now super packed to where you’d think it’s sold out. The lights went out once again, and the crowd let out a huge roar. The intro track “Monolith” played over the speakers as the band members came out. The first song they played was the opening song for the L.D. 50 album, “Dig.” It is also the band’s most popular song. The audience once again started to mosh and crowd surf. The next two songs were “Internal Primates Forever” and “-1.” The crowd still had lots of energy to keep going and showed no signs of slowing down or stopping. Bassist Ryan Martinie is one of the most fun bassists to see live as he runs around and fingers his bass like it owes him money. Mudvayne continued to played hits from the album as well as hits from throughout their career. Those songs included “Death Blooms,” “Nothing to Gein,” and “Dull Boy.” The Los Angeles crowd were treated to a special song when they played the new song “Sticks and Stones” live for the first time ever. One of the most beautiful songs played during the show was “World So Cold” as vocalist Chad Gray sang the intro to the song beautifully as the stage was lit up with beautiful lights. Nearing the end of the performance, Mudvayne played some of their most popular songs. Starting with “Not Falling,” which is one of their most commercially successful singles chart-wise. The grand finale came in the form of “Happy?” their usual ending song. It is their most successful single chart-wise and has been featured in places like WWE and Headbangers Ball. Mudvayne finished their set, thanked the audience for coming out, then left the stage. The audience was left in awe with nothing but smiles on their faces as they enjoyed the show with old friends, new friends, and family. The tour is only halfway through, so if you see them coming to your area, it’s a must-see show.
