Acid Bath: Hollywood Palladium - Los Angeles, CA - 8/28/25
Sludge metal legends Acid Bath reunited in 2024 after originally breaking up in 1997 after the death of their original bassist Audie Pitre. Many metalheads were excited at the announcement of the reunion shows as the majority of them had never seen Acid Bath live. The reunion featured original members Dax Riggs (vocals), Sammy "Pierre" Duet (guitars, Goatwhore), and Mike Sanchez (guitars). On the bass is Shane Wesley and on drums is Zack Simmons (Goatwhore). Acid Bath announced two shows at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles, California. It was originally announced as a single show, but the show sold out so fast that they decided to add another show. Both shows ended up sold out, and it was set to be an unforgettable night. The opening acts for night two were Pig Destroyer and The Obsessed.
By the time Acid Bath was ready to take the stage, the venue was packed to capacity. The lights went out and the sold-out venue cheered with excitement as the members made their way to the stage. The first song performed was “Tranquilized,” a song from their 1994 classic debut album, When the Kite String Pops. The fans cheered and even moshing started as fans were ecstatic to finally see the return of Acid Bath. Up next was “Bleed Me an Ocean,” and fans continued to mosh and crowd surf. The third song performed was “Venus Blue,” and it was easily one of the best songs performed that night. Up next was another fan-favorite, “The Bones of Baby Dolls.” It was beautifully performed as Acid Bath was bathed in bright lights and fog. Fans were singing along and paused moshing just to soak it all in. A special track was next played in the form of “Dead Girl.” It was a cover song, and the original song is by the band Agents of Oblivion. They were formed after Acid Bath broke up and features Riggs and Sanchez as band members. It’s possible that the song was being played live for the first time on these reunion shows as Agents of Oblivion was only active from 1999-2000. Acid Bath continued to play hits like New Death Sensation and Graveflower. After those songs, Pierre thanked each and everyone in the audience for coming out to support. The next song started, which was “Scream of the Butterfly.” The crowd cheered as this was one of their most popular songs. Many fans in attendance praised the performance of the song as it sounded so good being played live. To end the show, Acid Bath played “Dr. Seuss Is Dead.” With the intensity of the song, it was no surprise to see that the fans kept moshing and crowd surfers kept security up front busy. The show came to an end and the crowd cheered to show their appreciation. Pierre took the mic once again to thank the audience for an incredible second sold-out show and that they will return. Looking around, you could see fans smiling as they were happy to witness an incredible performance. Hopefully, Acid Bath come back real soon with an even longer set.
